The Bus Transport Center is one of the first stops upon entering the San Diego Zoo. Nestled in an exotic forest, the Transport Center provides patrons easy access to the Zoo’s double-decker buses. The forested environment gives a relaxing and calming sensation to park-goers as they make their way to the station. The green frame of the transport center helps it blend naturally with the plantings. Wood flooring adds to the natural aesthetic of the station.
The main building is constructed with a tasteful pairing of wood and masonry (totaling 8,000 square feet) and includes various site improvements in and around the area (totaling 18,000 square feet). The project also required the extensive use of steel, various other metals, and access brides.
